1. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
----------------------

Alcatel PIMphony is a personal productivity tool
that connects your phone terminal (Alcatel Reflexes, analog or wireless
DECT/PWT)
with your computer, providing enhanced usage of
your telephone.

Alcatel PIMphony IP is an IP phone that provides the same
level of features as PIMphony associated with an actual terminal.
PIMphony IP is based on Voice over IP technology (VoIP).
No physical terminal is required.

Alcatel PIMphony also provides tight integration with the most
popular PIMs (Personal Information Managers) on the market,
enabling them for Computer Telephony.

Supported PIMs:
- Microsoft Outlook 97, Outlook 98, Outlook 2000, Outlook 2002
- Goldmine v4, Goldmine v5, Goldmine v6
- Act! v4, Act! 2000
- Access 97, Access 2000, Access 2002

---------------
2. NEW FEATURES
---------------

New features that are not described in the online help:

. A "Redial" tab was added in the assistant mode information area,
allowing a fast access to redial in PIMphony.

. The number of simultaneous calls that PIMphony can manage is increased
  from 8 to 19.
  It is impossible to treat the calls beyond that with PIMphony;
those calls will never be displayed in PIMphony.

PIMphony Telephone module and Telephone bar always display
  the 8 oldest calls.
In Assistant mode the number of displayed call is a function of the call
status icons size, when set at:
    - big size, only the 8 oldest calls are displayed.
    - small size, only the 16 oldest calls are displayed.

The calls not visible, but treated by PIMphony are displayed only
  if a preceding call disappears.

Using drag-and-drop operations to move Outlook contacts into the dial edit
field

Using drag-and-drop operations to move files from applications with the
drag-and-drop feature into the dial edit field

Using drag-and-drop operations to move files from applications with the
drag-and-drop feature onto the dial button

 Advanced popup configuration (Outlook 97/98:
  - 'Synchronize' button: immediately starts an incremental synchronization
with contact cards defined in the PIM
  - 'Reinitialize' button: immediately starts a full synchronization with
contact cards defined in the PIM. Must be used when contact folder
selection
    changes.

Multiple folders (.pst files) are now supported (Outlook 2000 only).

If you use a PIM database which does not contain dialable numbers
with an outgoing prefix, you can add this prefix automatically when dialing,
by activating a rule in the Telephone tab in the configuration window.
This rule will also be used by PIMphony when writing dialable
telephone numbers in the PIM contacts, call log, etc.

 Connected directly to the PABX:
the number of clients installed is limited to 25 in release 1.1
and business solution, and 200 for release 2.0 and higher in
  e-business solution.

3. INSTALLATION NOTES
---------------------

3.1 Before You Run Setup

Before you install Alcatel PIMphony, make sure that your computer meets
the minimum hardware and software requirements.

3.1.1 Hardware Requirements

To install Alcatel PIMphony, your system must meet specific
hardware requirements, described below:

Processor: Pentium 266 MHz or higher, PII 300 for the IP version
 RAM: minimum 64 MB
 Hard disk: 70 MB available
VGA Graphic board 1024x768 pixels minimum if Assistant mode is used,
600x800 16 bits in other mode.
 CD-ROM drive
 Ethernet board

IP version:
V.90 Modem for remote access connection
Windows-compatible sound board with integral duplex manager is needed
  if IP mode is used
  (SoundBlaster 32PnP, SoundBlaster 64PnP, SoundBlaster-compatible sound
board, etc)
The "Wav" port must not be used by other applications.
Microphone and loudspeakers or headset or external handset
 Free wave port
Free serial or USB port if an external handset (e.g. Audibit) is used

3.1.2 Software Requirements

Before you install Alcatel PIMphony, your computer must meet the
following software requirements:

Any of the following operating system platforms:
  - Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Home Edition
  - Windows 2000 Professional
  - Windows NT 4.0 SP4 Workstation
  - Windows 98
  - Windows 98 2nd Edition
  - Windows Millenium
Microsoft Internet Explorer v4.01 or later is strongly recommended
for HTML online help support and is mandatory for
using PIMphony central services, PIMphony v4, and TAPI 2.1 server
 TCP/IP protocol installed and operational

For PIMphony IP:
IP connection to PCX (through LAN or Modem)

3.2 Installing Alcatel PIMphony

Insert the CD-ROM.
If the installation setup does not start automatically,
run the 'setup.exe' program from Windows Explorer.
Follow instructions on the screen.

3.3 Post installation

. Following the installation of PIMphony by an administrator,
it is necessary to configure PIMphony to indicate the PBX to be used.
For that it is necessary that the administrator launch the configuration
  wizard after PIMphony installation:
  - in a normal way, using the shortcut in the "Start" menu
  - or using a command line, with following syntax
    >Aocwiz.exe -c @IpPbx @IpVoIP
with @IpPbx	= PBX name or IP address
@IpVoIP	= VoIP board name or IP address.
It is possible to use only the parameter @IpPbx if you do not wish to use
the PC as a multimedia set.
It is preferable to use the second method, because:
  - it avoids bypassing all the wizard screens
  - it makes it possible to configure the two IP address on the PC without
creating a multimedia set associated to the administrator on each PC.

. We recommend doing a total synchronization with the PIM
  (Outlook 97/98 only).

. If you start PIMphony and the connection to the terminal cannot
be established (PIMphony icon remains red), there can be two reasons:
  - another application is using TAPI during the installation:
you must close and restart this application.
  - a Windows service is using TAPI:
you must shut down and restart this service or reboot the computer

3.4 Licenses

PIMphony v4 Basic is free.
PIMphony v4 Pro or Team requires a software license in the PCX.
However, a Try & Buy license is offered for PIMphony v4 Pro or Team
for a period of 60 days.
This period starts the first time a Try & Buy license is used.
A Try & Buy license is automatically used when no actual license is available.

4. TIPS & TRICKS
----------------

This section provides some hints for improved usage of
Alcatel PIMphony:

4.1 - Common

If PIMphony does not correctly display dialed numbers, this may be a result
of
  a PCX configuration problem.
For example, when you dial an external number consisting
of <outside access prefix> <external number> and the outside access
prefix appears on your set display, you have an invalid PCX configuration.
To correct this, you must make the outside access prefix (TMN field)
part of the PCX dialing plan.

If the dial by name feature seems to function incorrectly for
one or more contacts, check the following:
  - searched name appears in the correct field for a PIM contact.
  - associated contact has at least one phone number

 Quick Dial:
Some applications (e.g. Outlook, Word,) support the Quick Dial
  feature by:
  - number selection
  - and Quick Dial key combinations
Other applications also require a 'Copy' after number selection.

If your set is part of a group and PIMphony does
not show incoming group calls, you will need to configure the PCX
to operate in "Group Call by setup" mode.
(PCX Read/Write flag GrpCallWSig must be set to 0).

If PIMphony is part of an attendant group, the following configuration
  must be used:
  - PCX flag GrpCallWSig must be set to 0
  - PCX flag ManConnAtt must be set to 1
  - no supervision
The flags have the correct values in the Alcatel OmniPCX.
Only basic calls are supported for PIMphony.

If you use the dial feature of the PIM, be sure to select "ALCATEL_*"
in the PIM telephony configuration options.
Your calls will then be tracked by PIMphony.
However, dialing from PimPhony is recommended.

When you change the PIM driver, you must rerun the pop-up wizard
to ensure that it runs correctly.

If you manually remove and reinstall the Alcatel TAPI Service Provider
in the Telephone Control Panel, you will not have the full functionality
  of PIMphony.
This is because the Alcatel TAPI Service Provider removes some registry keys
that have been installed by PIMphony.
To have full functionality, it is recommended that you reinstall PIMphony.

Supervision of user calls and group calls through supervision keys
  is not currently supported.

You can open a contact card to transfer incoming calls.
Be sure the criteria "each call" is selected in the pop-up window
configuration.

In some countries, TAPI modifications must be installed to reflect
the current national dialing rules (e.g. Italy, Spain).
Please check directory support on the CD.

4.2 - Outlook

For smooth integration with PIMphony, please adhere to the
  following rules:
  - name format in a contact:
    <first name> <last name> in field 'Full name'
  - phone number format in a contact:
<Microsoft canonical format> for external numbers
    <number> for internal numbers
  - fields used for phone numbers and search order:
Business, Business2, Home, Home2, Assistant, Mobile, Car
Primary, Callback, Company, ISDN, Business Fax, Home Fax
Other, Other Fax, Pager, Radio, Telex, TTY/TDD
  - PIM supports multiple contact cards opened simultaneously:
    yes
  - Location of a new contact created by PIMphony:
in the default personal folder .pst, in the 'Contact' folder
  - Synchronization required when adding/deleting/modifying a contact:
Outlook 2000: none (synchronization is automatic)
    Outlook 97/98: incremental synchronization
                   or PIMphony restart
  - PIM state when starting PIMphony:
not relevant (Outlook object is started by PIMphony)
  - actions required when changing the contact folder selection:
Outlook 2000: quit PIMphony, quit Outlook 2000, restart PIMphony
Outlook 97/98: do a full synchronization

If all phone fields are empty, dialing by name will not select
  the associated contact.

If the dial by name feature does not seem to run correctly for
one or more contacts, check that Outlook is not
referencing an invalid .pst file. To do so, select each
folder containing a 'Personal Folder'. If an error message appears in
Outlook,
the dial by name feature and the Pop-up window feature
  will not work.
Correct this by deleting the invalid folder.
If it is still not working, perform a complete synchronization.

 Outlook 97/98 only:
If you move contacts or directories containing contacts,
Outlook changes its internal contact identifiers.
The result is that dial by name or automatic pop-up windows no longer
work. Perform a complete synchronization to correct this.

It is recommended that you enter all external phone numbers in Outlook
  using the canonical format.
Refer to the Microsoft documentation for more information on
  canonical format.
Example of canonical format for France:
  - Dialable number: 0388677700
  - Canonical number: +33 (3) 88677700

If you delete a personal folder (.pst) in Outlook,
you must open the PIM folder selection window and click
OK so that the deleted folder no longer includes contacts.

If you delete a contact, you must also delete it in the
'Deleted items' folder if you want this contact to
  be ignored by PIMphony.
  Outlook 97/98 only:
an incremental synchronization is required after deletion.

Journaling in the contact card is done automatically by Outlook
(if configured) when writing to the main journal.
This only happens with contacts in the default contact folder
  (Microsoft Outlook limitation).

 Outlook 2000 only:
If the dial by name feature, the identification, or the contact pop-up
window
does not work, it may be that the internal contacts database has not
been updated or it was not created. This might be because an Outlook COM
add-in
is not present or not registered. To check this, in the "Tools" menu of
Outlook 2000,
select "Options..." and go to the "Other" sheet, then click "Advanced
Options...".
Choose the "COM Add-ins..." and check that "Alcatel PIMphony Add-in" is
there
and selected. If this is not the case, quit Outlook (and PIMphony) and go to
the PIMphony installation directory. Check to make sure that the file
"addin.dll" is
there and launch "addin.reg". This will register the file addin.dll as an
Outlook
  COM add-in.
You can then restart Outlook2000 and PIMphony.

You cannot enter an internal phone number into a contact card
which has the same length as the country dialing plan (e.g. 7 digits
  internal phone number in US).
In this case, Outlook forces the number to be an external number
  (canonical format).
This is an limitation in Outlook.

4.3 - Goldmine

For smooth integration with PIMphony, please adhere to the
  following rules:
  - Name format in a contact:
    <last name> <first name> in field 'Contact'
  - Phone number format in a contact:
<dialable number> for external and internal numbers
  - Field used for search by phone number:
    Phone1
Phone number fields used with dial by name:
    Phone1, Phone2, Phone3
  - PIM supports multiple contact cards simultaneously opened:
    yes
  - Location of a new contact created by PIMphony:
    in the current database
  - Synchronization required when adding/deleting/modifying a contact:
    none (synchronization is automatic)
  - PIM state when starting PIMphony:
not relevant (PIM is started by PIMphony, but must remain active)

If you want to dial from Goldmine, it is mandatory that you set
  the following option in Goldmine:
  menu 'Edit/Preferences:'
field 'Modem' must be set to 'Dial number as entered' (and not
  to 'TAPI format').
If you manually create a new contact, the phone numbers
you enter must be directly dialable, i.e. must include
outside access prefix, area code, etc.
They must not be in TAPI canonical format.

When using pop-up contact card with Goldmine, it is recommended that
you do not minimize Goldmine because Goldmine will open but the
contact card will be hidden and you must use the 'Cascade' display
  option to find it.

4.4 - Act!

For smooth integration with PIMphony, please adhere to the
  following rules:
  - Name format in a contact:
    <first name> <last name> in field 'Contact'
  - Phone number format in a contact:
<Microsoft canonical format> for external numbers in field 'Phone'
<number> for internal numbers in fields 'Ext'
and <Microsoft canonical number> in field 'Phone'
  - Fields used for phone number resolution:
only indexed fields in the following list:
    Phone, Ext, Mobile, Home, Alt
  - PIM supports multiple contact cards simultaneously opened:
    no
  - Location of a new contact created by PIMphony:
    in the current database
  - Synchronization required when adding/deleting/modifying a contact:
    none (synchronization is automatic)
  - PIM state when starting PIMphony:
not relevant (PIM is started by PIMphony)

Act! only searches for phone numbers in indexed fields.
By default, only field 'Phone' is indexed.
If you specify a phone number in field 'Ext', you must
  index it (Menu Edit/Define/Advanced).

Act! only stores canonical phone numbers in the 'Phone' field.
If you want to store internal phone numbers, you must store
  them in the field 'Ext'.

On startup, PIMphony first starts Act! (if required).
If the Act! database cannot be opened automatically
(for example, when you set Act! Reminders for database
maintenance), the synchronization between PIMphony and Act! cannot
  be performed.
In this case, you have to restart PIMphony after Act! has
  been opened.

If a user is defined in Act! with a name and a password,
you will always need to enter them when starting the application.
In order to work with PIMphony, the name and password
must be set in the configuration of the Act! driver because
both are needed to access the Act! database.
However when Act! is started, even if launched from PIMphony,
the user must still enter a name and password.

4.5 - Access

If you want to connect to an Access 2000 database, you must make
certain Access 2000 is installed on your computer.

In an Access database, the phone numbers may be stored either in:
  - Canonical format: +xx yyyyyyy without any non-numeric character, or
  - Dialable format (including the outside prefix)

4.6 - PIMphony IP

For PIMphony IP, you should check the following Volume Control settings
  for good voice quality:
  - In Volume Control mode:
    - Mute the microphone to avoid internal echo
    - Adjust the Wave volume
    - Adjust the general Volume Control
  - In Recording Control mode:
    - Select microphone and adjust the volume
    - Mute (or de-select) all other devices
    - Do not amplify the microphone if this option is available
      in the Advanced settings

With PIMphony IP, if you have poor audio quality or unusual audio behavior,
be sure to use the latest audio driver available for your computer
(you can find it on the Web site of your computer manufacturer).
In most cases, an updated audio driver will solve the audio problems.

The feature 'Auto-detect' requires an IP multicast routing
configuration (VLAN) to work across routers.

4.7 - Using PIMphony with a Microsoft TAPI 2.1 server

If PIMphony is running on Windows NT4, be sure you have SP4 or later
  (TAPI 2.1 is pre-installed with SP4).

If PIMphony is runs on Windows 98, Windows 98 2nd Edition, or Windows
Millenium, check the following in the Network Control Panel:
  - the following components must be installed:
Client for Microsoft Network, File & Printer sharing for Microsoft
Network,
    TCP/IP.
  - Primary Network Logon must be set to "Client for Microsoft Network"
  - Client for Microsoft Network Properties: Logon to NT Domain must be
activated
  - File & Print Sharing Properties: File and print options must be selected
  - Access Control Page: User level control must be selected

On the TAPI 2.1 server, the TAPI administrator (i.e. the user who runs
tcmsetup)
should use a password that never expires. If this is not the case, TAPI 2.1
will no longer work after expiration of the password.

If the user on the TAPI 2.1 client machine has TAPI administrator rights,
the user will see all TAPI lines that have been configured with tcmapp.

The command TCMSETUP /S may not work in some cases
(problem experienced on a French Windows NT 4.0 SP5 server).
If you experience some problems, check the following registry entries:
  - "Server" is created in the registry key
    "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Telephony"
  - Under the "Server" key, check that the following 2 values appear:
    - DWORD value: "DisableSharing" 0x00000000
    - String value: "MapperDll" "TSEC.DLL"
In the properties of the "Telephone service:"
  - Stop the "Telephone service."
  - Select "automatic" start.
  - Select Open a session with 'This account' and click the
button "..." to select the logon used by the TAPI administrator.
  - Restart the "Telephone service."

If you do not see any TAPI line (particularly, if you have a modem
installed),
you may have a known Microsoft problem.
This problem is documented in the TAPI 2.1 Readme file:
"If Remote Access Service (RAS) is installed on a telephone client
that has RAS autodial enabled, TAPI applications will not have access
to lines on the telephone server. The workaround is to set the startup
value for the telephone client's Remote Access Autodial Manager service
to Manual. This issue will be addressed in a future release."
This problem does not happen with a direct connection to the PCX.

 Administration under Windows NT 4.0
After modification or suppression of the value of an existing line, a blank
empty line appears in the screen displaying all the PBX lines: Check that
no empty line is selected when you leave this screen via OK.
If you did, go back to the existing PBX lines screen and again do the
line selection that you want to associate to the user, then leave by
  clicking OK.

 Administration under Windows 2000 Server
Check that the automatic updating of the devices' state is set on. To do
that, open the Telphony Properties screen, then select the Automatic Updates
button, and set the devices' state automatic updating check box to on, then
choose the delay and leave by OK clicking.

Each time you display or refresh the telephony providers, the device's state
  will be updated.

4.8 Visual Mailbox

If you experience difficulties in playing the Voice Mail files on your PC,
be sure you have the latest sound driver installed.

4.9 PIMphony Central Services

The following is a description of errors which can occur when connecting to
the centralized call log (or other central services). A file "logDll.txt" is
created in the PIMphony directory with more information about the errors.

  - "Command refused by Server."
    Connection or service rejected
Example: tracking refused (PCX down, wrong config, etc.)
-> see logDll.txt for more details
  - "Error on Server."
Some errors previously occurred on server (CSTA errors, PCX problems,
etc.)
-> see logDll.txt for more details
  - "Error during TCP connection to Server."
    TCP error: network problem
  - "Error during Connection to Server." or "Error during Communication with
Server."
    Server may be down
  - "Timeout during Connection to Server." or "Timeout during Communication
with Server."
No response from server after a specified time
  - "No Server configured." or "No Server found."
Name or address of server missing
  - "Host machine not found"
Name or address specified, but no server found
  - "No server active on host"
Host found, but no PIMphony Central Services running on it
  - "Client dll not registered."
CServicesClient.dll not present or not registered on client PC
  - "XML lib not installed: Internet Explorer version too old."
Version of IE must be at least 4.01

------------------
5. TECHNICAL NOTES
------------------

The field 'Duration' in the call log is calculated by PIMphony and not
retrieved
  from the PCX.
Thus, the value in the field 'Duration' may differ from the
value used by the PCX to calculate the counter reports.

PIM pop-up examples are provided on the CD.
These examples are for information only and are not supported.

---------------
6. KNOWN ISSUES
---------------

The following is a list of Alcatel PIMphony known issues.

6.1 - Installation/Configuration

If, for some reason, the installation program cannot automatically
install and configure the TAPI Alcatel Service Provider,
  you can do it manually:

To manually install the Alcatel Service Provider:

   1. Click the Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Telephone ->
      Telephone Drivers -> Add...
   2. Select "Alcatel TAPI Service Provider" and click Add.

To configure the Alcatel Service Provider:

   1. Click the Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Telephone ->
      Telephone Drivers -> Configure...
   2. Enter the switch name or IP address.

After installing PIMphony (and the Alcatel Service Provider),
if the application 'ConfortDial' (that uses the Alcatel Service
Provider) crashes when the user opens their journal,
the problem is in the 'ConfortDial' application.

6.2 - User Interface

In 640x480 display mode, the phone bar does not completely fit on
  the screen.

You cannot display any content in PIMphony help (aochelp.chm)
if the Content Advisor is set to not display unrated content.
To view PIMphony Help contents, click View, Options.
Click the Security tab, and then click Disable Ratings.

Printing selected text from an PIMphony Help page is not supported
  by Internet Explorer 3.02.

Highlighting the results of a full-text search is not supported
  by Internet Explorer 3.02.
Internet Explorer v4.01 or later is recommended.

6.3 - Features

Forwarding on no answer to an external destination may not work
  in some PCX versions.
Be sure you have the latest PCX version.

If you experience problems with PIMphony and you have a
memory-intensive screen saver, it is recommended that you replace it
with the default 'Blank Screen' screen saver.

Because there is always a dialog between PIMphony and the Alcatel
switch through the LAN, it is recommended that you do not use
the power saving mode to avoid breaking the link.

When you start PIMphony, and there are already one or more
active calls on your phone, some restrictions may apply to the handling
  of those calls.

6.4 - PIM

 Pop-up configuration:
Only one action can be executed on one phone event.
For example, this means you cannot have both:
  - An open contact
  - Any store in the journal
  on an incoming phone call

If the dial by name and identification features do not work (Outlook)
or if you receive the following error:
"Run-time error '429': ActiveX component cannot create object",
you may have an Office Automation problem, referenced by Microsoft
  under ID Q244264.
This error occurs when the requested Automation object could not be
created by COM, and is therefore unavailable to Visual Basic.
The error is typically seen on specific computers.

Windows NT 4.0 has a known problem with starting Automation servers that
reside in a folder that contains an embedded space in the name, and/or
resembles another folder whose first 8 characters are identical.
For example, a server located in C:\Program Files\Outlook may fail to
start during a call to CreateObject if there is another folder on the system
called C:\Program Stuff\Outlook. An easy way to avoid this is to
re-install the server (e.g. Outlook) under a different folder name.

With Goldmine, and on a slow PC, you may experience character losses
when dialing quickly in the dial by name field.
This is a Microsoft Windows bug identified by ID: Q102576.
There is no known workaround except typing characters more slowly
  or using a faster PC.

In Outlook, when you have two contacts with the same phone number
but one in canonical format and the other in dialable format, only
the contact with the canonical number is opened.

. To dial an internal number in Outlook 2002, you have to install
the Hot Fix for Microsoft Knowledge Base article number Q817270.
  The fix requires:
  - Windows Installer version 2.0
   - to check the version, call "msiexec.exe" from the command prompt.
  - Outlook 2002 SP2 (build 4219)
    - to check use "Help-About" within Outlook.

6.5 - PIMphony IP

. If you want to use the G723.1 codec, PBX version must be equal to or
  higher than V2.0 029.001.

. With Windows ME or 98/98SE, when the same user logs out then logs in
without stopping PIMphony IP, the following message appears when
  using the application:
"Err_Media 8: the sound card is busy, used by another application."
To work around this problem, the user must leave then restart again
the application after a two minutes deadline.

6.6 - PIMphony and Microsoft Terminal server.

. For using the application with Terminal Server, the TAPI 2.1 server
must run on the same PC as TSE.

. If this Outlook message is displayed when launching PIMphony:
"The program is not registered properly. Please run setup again,
you don't have appropriate permission to perform this operation,"
to resolve this problem, you have to change the Terminal Server
Permission Compatibility. It must be set to "Win NT compatibility".

6.7 - PIMphony and mobility.

. To use roaming on Windows NT you have to install Fix 241572
  provided by Microsoft.
See Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 241572:
"Roaming Profile May Not Be Saved to the Server".

. Windows XP Service Pack 1 must be installed to use the roaming
  on a Windows XP PC.
See Microsoft Knowledge Base Article Q307401:
"Handle leak may prevent profiles from unloading Windows XP".

. It is not possible to use roaming between Windows 98/Millenium
  and Windows NT/2000/XP.
See Microsoft Knowledge Base Article Q269378:
"Differences in the User Profiles in Windows".

. When using roaming between various operating systems
(Win 2000/XP towards NT4), the application can become very slow
if the key "HKCU\Control Panel\International\Sorting Order" does not exist.
This key is missing under Win 2000 and XP but the application
functions correctly. On the other hand, it is necessary under NT4.

. It is not recommended for the same user to log on at two or more
computers at the same time, because PIMphony IP will not work correctly,
and you can encounter problems with PIMphony data files.

. When using roaming you must take care to synchronize the time on all PCs.
You can use a PC as time server, and all other PC must synchronize using
  command:
    >net time \\timesrv /set /yes
with timesrv = time server PC name.
The best practice is to add the command in the user logon script.

. When using roaming, "Autostart" functionality of the application
is configured in an identical way for all users of the machine.
If this functionality is not activated at installation, the only way
to start the application automatically is to add a shortcut in
  the "Start Menu" folder.

6.8 - Others.

. If after a Lotus Notes upgrade (from V4.x to V5.x), launching PIMphony
  systematically generates following error:
"Run Time Error 372: Failed to load control "Softkey" from Softbut.ocx.
The version of Softbut.ocx may be outdated. Make sure you are using the
version of the control that was provided with your application."
The problem is due to a Lotus Notes upgrade that unregisters oleaut32.dll
from the system, so PIMphony can no longer be used correctly.
This is a problem known by Microsoft; see MSDN Q185599 Knowledge Base
  Articles.
To correct the problem use the Q185599 article resolution,
or the PIMphony application can be uninstalled and reinstalled.

. With use of Microsoft TAPI 2.1 Server, when a first user of PIMPhony
logs off and a new user logs in, PIMphony line is incorrect
(only the first user line is accessible).
In this case, you have to reboot the client PC.
